The School of Art was born from the merger between Industrial Design Department of Sichuan Institute of Technology and Music Department and Fine Arts Department of Chengdu Normal College.
     The School offers 7 undergraduate programs in Industrial Design, Art Design, Fine Arts, Animation, Musicology, dance and performance. Among them, Industrial Design is recognized as Sichuan Provincial Specialty and dance, performance as well as art design as University-level Key Programs. 
     There are 120 faculty members and about 2,200 undergraduate students.
     In recent years, students of the school have participated in various activities on behalf of XHU and received many awards. Students of dance program have won a third prize of professional group in the 2nd National College Student Art Festival. Students of fine arts and design programs have won a first prize and two second prizes of oil painting group in the 2nd National College Student Art Festival. Students of art design program have won two second prizes and two third prizes in the 4th National College Student Advertising and Art Design Competition.
