Established as early as 1960, the School of Transportation & Automotive Engineering is one of the largest schools with the longest history in XHU. Through nearly 50-year development, the school has made great progress and become a provincial training base for talents in Transportation and Thermal Energy and Power Engineering.
      Currently, the School offers 6 undergraduate programs in Automotive Engineering, Thermal Energy and Power Engineering (Orientation in Automotive Engine), Transportation, Transportation Engineering, Logistics Management and Automotive Service Engineering and 3 authorized units for master degree.
      Right now, 95% of the full-time teachers have obtained doctoral and master degrees, including 18 doctors, 34 professors and associate professors, 18 visiting scholars from abroad. There are over 2300 undergraduate students and 100 graduate students.
      In order to improve students’ practical ability, the school has exerted great efforts to establish 2 provincial key laboratories: Automotive Measurement, Control and Safety Laboratory and Automotive Engineering Laboratory, 3 research institutes: Institute of Automotive Engineering, Transportation Institute, Institute of Road Traffic Accident, and 2 research centers: Sichuan Research Center of Clean Auto Engineering and Technology and Sichuan Southern Natural Gas Vehicle Test Center, occupying an area of 5000 square meters. The teaching and scientific instruments and equipment are worth of 200 million Yuan.
      Owing to great efforts in teaching and research, students have received fruitful awards in many national and provincial contests, including Formula Society of Automotive Engineers, the Freescale Cup Intelligent Car Racing and National Contest on Logistics Design by University Students and so on.
